About Me

Rachel practices family law because she understands family problems can completely disrupt a person’s life until the problem is resolved.  Rachel began practicing family law exclusively in January 2017, focusing on cases in Ventura and Los Angeles counties.  She found a great sense of personal fulfillment from strategizing with clients and successfully fighting for their rights and interests in Court.

Rachel opened Law Office of Rachel Lineberger in April 2020, realizing she could best serve the needs of her clients as a solo practitioner. With the increase in the Court’s remote appearance capabilities that accompanied Covid-19, Rachel expanded her area of practice to include most counties in California.  She has handled cases in Alameda, Barstow, Butte, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kern, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Monterey, Merced, Napa, Nevada, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma, Tuolumne and Ventura counties.

Rachel obtained her Juris Doctor from the Santa Barbara & Ventura Colleges of Law in 2016, graduating first in her class. As a law student, Rachel interned for the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office.  Upon passing the California Bar Examination, she worked as a Volunteer Deputy District Attorney for the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.

Prior to practicing law, Rachel graduated from University of California Los Angeles in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.  She enjoyed a five-year career working in buying departments for Los Angeles based retailers but felt that she was missing her calling and ultimately left the fashion industry to attend law school. Rachel is a recent breast cancer survivor, a divorcee, and enjoys skiing and swimming in her spare time.

Areas of Practice

Divorce & Legal Separation

When you need to end things with your spouse, the next step can be overwhelming and confusing.  Choosing the right path and then knowing what to expect next will help pave your way to a brighter future.

Child Custody & Visitation

The Court can help provide your family with structure during times of change, but when it comes to the Court making orders about your children the stakes are high.  Having an attorney that routinely handles custody cases is critical to knowing what to ask for, how to ask for it, and then navigating the process that follows.

Child & Spousal Support

Financial concerns are at the top of the list when trying to plan for a new future. We help clients secure child and spousal support orders so that everyone’s needs are met, both short and long term.

Post Judgment Modification

If you never married the other parent of your child, you can still ask the Court to help you with visitation schedules, child support, and other issues.  The Court can also assign the right to make decisions about your child to you and/or your child’s other parent.

Parentage (Paternity) Actions

With time comes change.  If you experience a change in your finances, your health, or your child’s needs, you may need to return to Court to ask for different orders.

Domestic Violence

If you or someone you love is being harmed, physically or otherwise, we can help obtain emergency orders that ensure the immediate safety of you or your loved one.
